Student Employee Spotlight – December

Chayil

Chayil, a fourth-year Psychology major, currently works for the Black Student Success Initiative. Within her first year, she has continued to develop her time management, facilitative, and event organizational and planning skills. The most best part of her job is “being able to create peer relationships with other student assistants and the Fresno State community”.

David

Second-year AG Business major, David is in his first year with the Fresno State Beef Unit. During his employment, he’s gained communication, multitasking, and teamwork skills. David recognizes that the most rewarding part of his work is the “direct connections he gains with those who work in the beef industry”.

Binuri

Binuri is a senior Biology major who works in the Library Administration Office. She has been in this position for nearly a year and has learned how to address unexpected challenges quickly and efficiently, communication, customer service, and event management. “The unmatched support and guidance I receive from my supervisors and the library dean has continued to allow me to grow both professionally and personally. I get valuable mentorship, insight, and advice. Working in such an environment is so rewarding!”.

Yadira

Yadira, a third-year Business Administration major with an option for International Business, works in Accounting Services. In the past three and a half years in this position, Yarida notes that “I’ve gained valuable customer service skills, learning how to interact professionally and assist students/parents with their needs. I’ve also developed collaboration skills, working closely with team members to solve problems and streamline processes, and a strong attention to detail, especially when handling financial information. These experiences have not only strengthened my technical skills but also my confidence in handling financial tasks”. She feels that the most rewarding part of working in Accounting Services is knowing that I’m making a difference by helping student navigate their financial needs, whether it’s answering questions or assisting with the different processes.

Daniel

Lastly, fourth-year Marketing major, Daniel has been working the the Department of Music and Media for just over a year. In his position, he has gained customer service and organizational skills. “The most rewarding part of working in the Department of Music and Media is that I get to meet new faces every single day, and create lasting friendships with coworkers who are pursuing the same passions”.
