Teacher’s Assistant- Bluff View School
Job Overview:
The assistant works directly with the teacher in the instructional supervision of the students. The immediate supervisor of the Teacher’s Assistant shall be the assigned room teacher.
Requirements:
· Be 18 years or older
· Have a high school diploma or GED
· Have 12 units of Child Development
· Provide a loving, caring and nurturing environment for children and parents
· Must be able to interact with children in the classroom and on the playground (running, kneeling, jumping, etc.)
· Must be able to lift, hold, and carry 10-40 lbs.
· Make a continued effort at a professional growth by attending all in-service training meetings.
· Must have CPR and First Aid Certification
· Have a physical health exam that includes TB test
Responsibilities:
· Set up and assist with all centers in the classroom under the direction of the teacher.
· Take teachers place when teacher must confer with visitors, director, or parents.
· Accompany and assist in the supervision of children.
· Help the children with their individual needs (tying shoes, changing clothes, etc.).
· Help the children overcome problems or difficult situations (Shyness, discipline, toileting, etc.).
· Set up lunches.
· Assist teachers and children in creating a calm atmosphere for playing and learning.
· Assist the teacher in play area supervision and help children put away play area equipment after use.
· Assist in keeping the preschool room clean and orderly. Floors and tables cleaned and disinfected before and after use. Includes bathroom, drinking fountains, and work areas.
· Assist in preparation of classroom materials and clean up.
· Performs any and all duties assigned by the teacher.
