Mission Care residents have the opportunity to move into Care Fresno neighborhoods and learn to lead programs for low-income, high-need youth and families. Throughout the year, residents participate in weekly classes in urban leadership and theology while living with other residents in a Care Fresno apartment. Care Fresno will provide free rent for residents who will in turn tutor, mentor, and serve at-risk youth through after-school programming.
To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
Assist Site Leaders at after-school programs and Bible studies within a low-income apartment complexes and community benefit organizations.
- Tutor and serve at-risk youth and families
- Work with non-profit and community partners to provide service opportunities
- Attend once per week urban leadership and community development classes
- Attend four events throughout the year
- Be able to take instruction and follow procedures from Care Fresno staff
- Report on time, be responsible, and take initiative on task
- Attend two weekend retreats (Fall/Spring)
- Attend Care Camp (5 days/4 nights in summer)
- Be respectful and responsible at all times
- Motivated to learn and work with a team

Free Rent Opportunities: For a select number of participants, there are opportunities to live rent free in Christian community with other people on the Mission Care team. This is a great experience to grow lifelong friendships, grow in your faith, and save money.
Resume Building: Your involvement in leading after-school programs, Bible studies, summer camp, and more will enrich your resume. It showcases your leadership, teamwork, and commitment to community service—qualities that stand out to future employers and colleges.
Leadership Development: You’ll learn from top community leaders, gaining valuable skills and insights that will shape you as a leader in your community and beyond.
Certificate of Community Leadership: Upon completion, you’ll receive recognition from Care Fresno’s partnership with the Fresno Police Department, validating your leadership and service within the community.

Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
