We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our accounting team. This role will provide hands-on experience in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting various accounting functions. The intern will work closely with team members to ensure financial transactions are recorded correctly and will have the opportunity to learn about bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing processes in a professional setting.
Responsibilities:
- Recording Financial Transactions: Assist in accurately recording financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments using Intuit QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Asset Management and Tracking: Help maintain an updated asset register, tracking changes in asset values, depreciation, and disposals.
- Maintaining General Ledger: Support the team in maintaining and updating the general ledger, posting transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring financial records’ accuracy.
- Accounts Receivable/Payable: Assist with managing accounts receivable and payable, including invoicing clients, tracking payments, processing vendor invoices, and reconciling statements.
- Bank Reconciliation: Aid in reconciling bank statements with the general ledger, ensuring accurate transaction recording and resolving discrepancies.
- Payroll Processing: Support payroll processing activities, including calculating and verifying salaries, wages, deductions, and taxes.
- Financial Reporting: Contribute to preparing financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting by providing historical data and analysis.
- Tax Compliance: Help organize financial records and prepare documentation for tax compliance.
- Audit Support: Provide support during audits by gathering and organizing financial information.
- Financial Analysis: Participate in basic financial analysis to identify trends and variances.
- Documentation Maintenance: Assist in maintaining organized financial records and documentation.
- Communication: Collaborate with team members and assist with customer accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Be familiar with relevant accounting standards, such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and confidentiality in their work.
- Strong computer skills
