The primary function of the ILS Trainer is to provide direct services and instruction to clients who have intellectual disabilities. The Trainer provided will help them improve and maintain an independent lifestyle and be safe. The ILS Trainer is responsible to the Director and Service Coordinator. Trainers are to be flexible and responsive to the client’s wishes.
• Provide direct instruction to client in alignment with their goals & objectives
• Responsible for keeping timely and accurate data and adhering to the allowed hours.
• Responsible to conform to the hours of service prescribed.
• Responsible to task analysis and the breaking down of skills into manageable steps.
• Responsible to inform the service Coordinator of any accommodations that are needed.
• Responsible for keeping the client’s manual up to date with current information and resources. • Take clients to appointments when appropriate • Assist with money management
• Be aware if clients have the basic necessities of life and report any concerns immediately with the supervisor.
Important: The 15 hours to start are for female applicants only, since there is a female caseload ready to transition. We attempt to match clients with their preferred sex to make them feel at ease.
Qualifications: Minimum education of a High School Diploma/GED.
BA in Social work, special education or related field preferred in addition to 1 year work experience is preferred.
Additional qualifications:
Must pass criminal record clearance
TB clearance
Must have a valid Driver’s license
Must have a clean driving record from the DMV
Must have reliable vehicle and insurance
