The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible of Supervision of all quality assurance functions. Implementation, development, audit and maintenance of plant’s quality and food safety systems including HACCP to assure compliance and customer satisfaction. Train new hires and keep record of all trainings done. Report to The Quality Assurance Manager.
- Quality and Food Safety – Implementation and maintenance of all applicable elements of the Youngstown Quality and Food Safety systems in order to assure compliance.
- Technical Assistance – Responsible for providing technical assistance to operations and customers to aid in achieving product quality.
- Teamwork – Promote communication, involve staff and employees, support staff, communicate objectives and develop employee potential. Train and educate employees.
- Auditing – Assist the QA Manager in audits including GMP’s, pest control, product quality, and regulatory to ensure standards are achieved and evaluation of opportunities for improvement.
- Laboratory – Responsible for laboratory practices that achieve high performance standard. Calibration and use of pH Meters, ATP, allergen swabs and Refractometer.
- HACCP – Responsible for aid in the implementation and maintenance of Youngstown’s HACCP Food Safety Program.
- Recordkeeping – Responsible for maintaining processing records that will allow for product, packaging, and ingredient recall. As well as record all training and new process development
OTHER IMPORTANT DUTIES:
- Makes recommendations for department enhancements to the Director of Food Safety and QA.
- Responsible for allergen swabs and aid in cleaning recommendations.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Recommended Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical science program (Chemistry, Food Science, Animal Science, Meat Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology or related science degree).
- Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Strong Leadership or Technical skills.
- Moderate Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, and database navigation)
- Basic food safety knowledge with specific emphasis on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs), labeling, food additives, sanitation, and food microbiology
