Professional Development Associate Director, Villanova

Dan is the Associate Director of Leadership and Professional Development for the School of Arts and Sciences at Villanova University. Hundreds of students come through his door each semester for counseling on which path to choose and how best to go down it. Dan insists that success comes from enriching both your professional life as well as your personal life.

>> Honestly, it's working with the kids, both teaching the class as well as working with the students themselves, one-on-one, and you see the lights go on in a kid's eyes when they realize that there's actually someone genuinely interested in helping them figure out what to do with their life, and you give them, I think, what is critical guidance at a critical time in their lives, trying to transition from, you know, a dependent into an independent, adult professional. Like I said, I think the biggest challenge of this job is that there's 24 hours in a day and not, you know, 100, you know? Honestly it's just there are a lot of students that need guidance and just not enough hours in the day, quite frankly, to meet with as many as you'd want and to be able to help them in as many ways as you'd like. So you do the best you can with the number of hours in the day, but that's really the biggest challenge, I think.
